Hey, it's Cienna Richards, owner and founder of Your Life Travel Club.
Let's get right into it, ladies, shall we. I love solo travel. In fact, I love it so much that I make it a mission to take 1 or 2 trips by myself every year. Solo travel, much like group travel connects us to ourselves. It allows us to be whoever we want to be in this life and explore the world on our own terms.
But, LET ME TELL YOU, solo travel ain't always what it is glorified to be. One word, AIRPORTS!!! Ugh, have you ever taken a solo trip and had a delayed plane? All you want to do is sleep but you are unable too because you have all your things with you. That's me all the time. Exhausted and tired but not able to close my eyes, in fear of being robbed.
I've done it all. I have taken a lock to place on all the zippers of my carry on. I've found an empty terminal to sleep and placed my head on my bag. I've used my jacket to cover up my face in fear of public humiliation, everything you can think of.
Sleeping in an airport while traveling solo isn't the only thing I have encountered while traveling. So, is using the bathroom. If you're anything like me, you only travel with a carry-on. I think I need to stop doing that because it does make using the bathroom harder.
I have to carry my little suitcase into the stall with me, making it hard to even move in there. And OMG!! I forgot to mention, I am a germaphobe. Yes, I really am. I can't stand the fact that when you flush a public toilet, that all the germs go flying in the air. That means, they get on my suitcase, my clothes, hair, everywhere!! Yukk. Am I the only person who thinks of these things??
Those are some of the ugly truths behind solo travel. I would love to know what yours are. Comment below.
