I remember the first time I heard about manifestations. I was listening to a video on YouTube and all of a sudden the person starts talking about how they manifested their dreams. I laughed. “Manifestations don’t exist”, I thought to myself. There is no way you can just believe that something will happen and then it does. Despite my disbelief, I decided to start manifesting things into existence slowly.
The first time I did it, I had just graduated from University. I was working at a bank, where I was making a ton of money but it didn’t align with my passions. I went out in seek of my dream job. I had applied to my dream job and went through a six-part interview series until finally, they told me they chose someone else. Why did they put me through six interviews and still choose someone else? They were paying $23,000 less than what I was making at the bank but I still wanted the job. As I said, it was my dream Advertising job at a T.V. station.
The station also owned a radio station but I was not going to be working on that side of the business. I decided to apply the tips I heard in the video that one day many moons ago. I played one of the 11 stations that the company owns. While listening to the station they would say the name of the company every couple of hours, so every time I heard it, I just said out loud, “I am going to work there one day.”I thought the whole manifestation thing would work quickly so I immediately applied to 8 different jobs at the company. I got ALL immediate No’s.
A year went by and I was still saying, “I’m gonna work there one day.” At this point, I hadn’t applied for a job with them in months. Next thing you know, I get a phone call from a recruiter. He sounded relieved when I answered the phone. He said, “Cienna, we made a terrible mistake. We should have hired you. When can you start?” It was crazy! I finally landed a job in my career, this was my moment. All because I was persistent in listening to a radio station at the company I wanted to work at and continued to say, “I’m gonna work there one day.”
Fast forward, I believed in the power of manifestation now but not all the way. I decided to test out my powers again. I like to pretend manifestation is a superpower. So, I did. Only 3 months later, my business was going through a couple of ups and downs. I started to do money manifestations. I did them for 2 weeks straight. By week 3, I received a BUNCH of checks in the mail. Checks from old jobs I had when I was 18 years old who claimed they owed me money. I’m not talking about $200, I am talking about $800+. I then received a check from the government saying they owed me money. THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT, let that sink in. I even started to get checks from a claim I filed with Bank of America ages ago. Money just kept flowing in. As money kept flowing in, I kept manifesting and more money would come in. That’s when I started to harp my power of manifestation. I started to believe that life is what we dream it is.
Today, I am married to my dream husband. So, the big question is how did I, manifest love? Everyone wants to know. I remember sitting at work at what I believed was my dream job at the T.V. station, an old co-worker came up to me and told me to try this dating app called Hinge. My uncle had just died and all of my focus went into being with my family. I really was in no position to start dating again. Anyway, I set my focus on downloading the app.
Before downloading the app, I said to myself, “This will be the last time I try online dating. The next person I meet, I am going to marry.” I made a list of what I wanted in a man and I was intentional. I said, “I will find this man.” I had matched with 5 guys and was very serious about making sure every guy I matched with met all of my checkmarks. Right away, I could tell that 3 of those guys weren’t that serious. So, I moved on. I was left with just two guys.
I went on a date with both of them while being intentional about what I want and paying attention. Here is how my first date went down, to be honest, it was a terrible date.
Guy A: I went to Starbucks with Guy A. The plan was to go to Starbucks and grab some coffee, talk for a while and then head to the beach and walk along the waters. We live in a beach town so it was no big deal. The beach was 10 minutes away by car. I got to Starbucks on time and texted him that I had arrived. He was a couple of minutes late but apologized through text. I waited for him. When he arrived, he walked straight up to me and asked if I wanted to order coffee. I said yes and we walked to the register. I was standing directly in front of him in line and when it came time to order, he jumped in front of me and put in ONLY his order and then told the barista, “that’s it” before paying. RED FLAG #2- I definitely did not have a problem paying for my own cup of coffee but at least offer instead of just ignoring me. In case you’re thinking to yourself, “What was red flag number 1, Cienna?” It was when Guy A showed up late.
After talking for a while, this guy seemed sweet. I immediately forgave the 2 red flags. So I asked him if he was ready to go to the beach. When I tell you, this guy told me his car was in the shop. HOW DID YOU EVEN GET TO OUR DATE??? He just assumed I was going to drive us to the beach.
So, we head to the beach. As we were walking along the beach, he asked if I wanted to sit. I indeed did. Walking through sand is a sport, ya’ll. A seriously hard sport. Jk. But, it is hard. So we sat down on some steps that lead to someone’s private beach house. Don’t worry, the part of the stairs we sat on is considered public property and we were not in the way of someone’s door. Did you know, while I was looking away, this man had the nerve to grab my face, pull it towards him and kiss me. NOPE NOPE NOPE. We didn’t even have a connection or any true conversations. It’s not like our eyes were connected. I was looking away when he grabbed me.
This was the end of our date, ya’ll. I drove him back to Starbucks immediately and waited for his friend to come to pick him up. I went home and manifested all over again. “My next date will be my husband.” That night, the other guy, my now husband, messaged me. “I would like to take you to dinner tomorrow,” I said okay and allowed him to pick me up from my job. Can I just say, at the end of my date with him, I called my mom and said, “I just met my husband.” The fact is that I remained intentional with my plans.
I am now married to my best friend but only because I was clear and focused. I knew what I want and I made it very clear with the Universe. You only get out of this life what you put in. Those cliché words are also really deep. Everything you want and desire is right in front of you, reach out and grab it. My way of manifesting is through speaking things into existence. There are other ways, like visualizing and writing things down. If you’re new to manifesting, get intentional and don’t deviate from what you actually want. Write down what you want, say what you want, and visualize what you want. Tell the universe thank you for getting it, even if you haven’t gotten it yet, and then work hard to go get it. The universe doesn’t have magic powers, you still have to work for what you want. I wanted a husband but one wasn’t just going to drop from the sky. I had to put myself out there and go on dates.
You wanna know something funny, I even manifested my last initial. So, fun fact, when I was in high school, I used to date this guy whose last name started with a K. EVERY DAY, I would write in my diary C.A.K. with a heart around it. While I was writing the K to stand for another guy, I had no idea that the person I would marry would also have the last name K.
P.s. I actually decided to not change my last name which has caused a lot of controversy but my husband and I are okay and happy with it.
