Growing up, Thanksgiving was always my favorite holiday. Yes, it was partially due to the holiday dishes that warm your soul or the whole pie you could actually eat by yourself if your family let you. Mainly, I loved Thanksgiving because it was the time of the year that my immediate and extended family came together under one roof and shared a meal. Every Thanksgiving we express gratitude for the things we have received and the people we have met but after really looking back on my blessings this year, I had no choice but to express gratitude for the experiences I had, good or bad.
Here me out! I was blessed this year with so many random things and I met so many incredible people, that I can't honestly keep track. But the truth is, the main thoughts that come to my mind when I'm thinking about what I should be grateful for are my memories!
Ahh! It's that special time of year again. The time of year where you strive to fill your bellies and your hearts at the same time. The time of year where you reflect on the things that you have been blessed with and the people who were there along the way.
This Thanksgiving, I am encouraging you to continue to express gratitude for your materialist blessings and for your loved ones. But I am also encouraging you to spend some time dwelling in the thankfulness that you have for the experiences and memories that you made. This will not only add to an already full heart of love. This will make you want to continue to make more memories in the future and really push you to live your life to the fullest.
Join me in making a list of the experiences that you have had: good, bad or worse. You must be grateful for every experience because that is what got you to the place that you currently are.
